transitioning from copper trunk to PEX branch

Hi Folks,
I’d like to add a 1/2″ PEX branch plumbing to an existing 3/4″ copper trunk. I would have expected to use a fitting that has 3/4″ female sweat ends on the straight-thru portions, and 1/2″ barbed PEX fitting on the branch outlet of the tee, but I can’t find this anywhere. I’ve seen others online asking about this too, but a lack of definitive answers. Can anyone tell me why this type of fitting doesn’t exist? What’s the best-practice of how to tap into this sort of copper trunk w/ PEX then?
Thx,
BW

You could use a 3/4" tee with a 1/2 branch, all soldered connections, and then solder in a 1/2" pex adapter to get started with pex.
Or, you could do the same thing using sharkbite fittings unless you like soldered connections better.
Step one: Cut off copper and ream the end for burrs.
Step Two: Attach Sharkbite U058LF fitting (3/4" to 1/2" reduction fitting, Lead Free)
Step Three: Attach PEX pipe to Sharkbite fitting.
Done!
