A tile floor I’m laying needs to abut carpet in a closet. What’s the best, most attractive way to transition between the two? The carpet edge is under where the bi-fold door will be and so consequently will be the tile edge.

The termination strip at the tile with the carpet turned and tacked looks good.

I just did a tile to carpet transition on a wood stove hearth and used wood. Milled rough stock to the same height as tile with a 1/4" bullnose edge on the carpet side. When using wood against tile it is a good idea to use a latex caulk grout to allow for the expansion and contraction of the wood vs tile.
