Just finished a day of scribing oak treads & risers for a closed stringer stair. This is the third or fourth one I’ve done. Anyone have any good tips for getting the scribes right & not too tight or too loose? How do you cut them? I’ve been using my bosch scms. Are those marking jigs I’ve seen worth the money?
Thanks, Mike.

MIKE... i made one of those devices about twenty years ago.. worked great....
we don't do a lot of finished treads anymore.. mostly buy factory stairs...
... i don't know how much the devices cost so, you'd have to be the judge of that..
as far as how close or how loose...got to use an experience factor.. but if you go for too tight it will deform the skirt and throw off your fit for the previous one....looks like JUST RIGHT is the winner...
b but hey, whadda i no ?
