Listeners write in about removing masonry chimneys and ask about blocked ridge vents, deal-breakers with fixer-uppers, and flashing ledgers that are spaced from the wall.

Thanks for the link... I will need to starting building one next summer. Some very good ideas there and looks like I will be able to build crooked walls on purpose now :-)
Saw this treehouse
Saw that too.
Plenty of work making that "tree stump" base.
The only thing with that one, is that I think I would have tried for a compliant railling that was more "in theme." The whimsical look with a "perfect" railing just looks a tad odd.
Still cool.
No room in my yard, though . . .
How about this railing?

I just had this bad picture in my head of trying to explain to some welder that the 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 ballusters are supposed to be crooked (just like on the drawings) . . . and bowed . . . and not quite level . . . Occupational hazard of my occupation not being around (sorry Bubba)
