Ok need to bounce a few ideas off the folks here about a planned deck. Total trex deck not my first but this one has a few quirts. First the homeowner wants the band board covered in trex. Ok not a problem, wait a minute no 1×8’s in 16’ lengths only in 12. Now butting this stuff tight is a real no no. Ok what about using a deck board long enough but with the radiuses removed I’m only 5†wide way short of the 71/2 inches I need. Ok we’ll add another color like one of the reds and have gray on the top in bottom. Hmmmmmm now we’re back to the gapping problem again. So has anybody attempted to glue up or pocket screw trex?

Perhaps miter the ends of the 12 footers where they meet so that you don't see a gap from straight on? If the bandboard is low enough (i.e., can't see the bottom), maybe even miter the back piece at only 30 degrees, but the front one at 45 degrees to keep the bulk of the edges further from one another.

Does the deck have railings?
Sorry guys no railing posts to hide the breaks.
What about using two 8' pcs. and leaving a gap between them. Then put a simple medallion over the gap.
Could be shaped like a small keystone. Maybe decorative to reflect something in the immediate area. If there's oak trees around, cut out an acorn shape and charge extra! (lol)
