I’m building a fence and wanted to go with a horizontal slat design (kind of a modern looking thing…akin to this: http://www.resurrection.com.au/pages/mod.htm ). I don’t want to use wood as I’d never get around to my semi-annual maintenance of cleaning and re-staining.
So, I’d like to use some of the engineered wood products. I’m looking for two attributes:
– relatively color-fast (just so it does’t fade to white)
– thin stock
The problem I’m finding is that it seems as if the engineered stuff is 99% made for 1″ decking…which is a bit much for what I’m doing (basically building my own lattice). I have found 3/4″ fascia boards…which might work, but would still like to find something a tad thinner if possible.
So, my question…anyone recommend a particular product that comes in thinner dimensions in solid form suitable for ripping into slats?
Bonus feature: PVC-free would be preferred.
Bonus question: Why does all of the cool/modern fencing only exist in Australia?

Certainteed BoardWalk had 1/2" x 10" -12' as of last year. Used a fair amount of it a a fascia cap on the ends of the decks.
I believe trex has a 1/2" x 6" material, but I have yet to use any of it.

you can get it at home depot
Looks like most of those are PVC. Might look into the hardi. How easy is that to rip?
Hardie will rip easy with either the right blade ( I just got one byDewalt on sale for 27 bucks) or a MAlco or Kett Shears...dusty yes, but it is not THAT bad with a good mask outside.
