I just bought a Troy-Bilt TB575SS String Trimmer. It’s the one with a 29-CC 4 Cycle engine, straight shaft and a 17 inch cut. Paid $145.00 at Lowes because it was discontinued. I have now read almost all, (8 of 9), consumer response have been negative due to engine failure within the first year. I havn’t opened the box. Does anybody have any feed back on this trimmer? Thanks Gary

Why did you buy it? Do you like the idea of a 4-stroke engine? Just buy it because it was on sale? It may meet your needs quite nicely or may be a disaster from the start.
It's run by a cheap chinese 4 stroke engine. Just like all the new snowblowers out there. To keep prices down, the manufacturers have gone to no-name Chinese engines. They may be decent, maybe not. I'll wait and see because it's too soon to tell in my mind.
I look at it this way- you spent $145 for a machine that you now find questionable. For another $50 you could have a $200 price point machine from Stihl, Husqvarna, or Echo which would all be 100% improvements over the TB machine. All three of those brands have parts readily available and decent dealer networks. Good luck when you need parts for the TB.
I would personally take it back and spend a little more. But that's just me.
I have the 4-stroke Troybuilt but I think the next model up. Mine you can purchase the various attachements. Any who I've had mine for about 6 yrs and it runs great season to season.
