I was in a pondering mood, today. Most contemplative.
Let’s say that I wanted to make me a pickup bedslide apparatus, but didn’t have/didn’t want a cap. For whatever reason.
Huck topped his with diamond plate, which is expensive. Gdcarpenter used MDO for his trailer, but also sloped it aggressively.
I’m wondering if a sheet of PVC glued to a sheet of 3/4″ ply might make a good “roof” for a box of this kind. I’d expect it to turn out exceptionally waterproof, and probably easy to repair.
I’m kind of worried about expansion/contraction vs. the ply. Or maybe it’d be too brittle in the cold. I dunno.

Biff, you certainly have a lot of time to ponder questions!
To answer your question, I have no idea>G<
Did that help?
in the younger day we use to do the plywood with the fake grass on it.
now that you've grown up and have $$$ you use real grass?
:)
I usually think and dig at the same time. Today, I did a lot of digging.
That explains it. I wondered why some days, not a peep, others, you come up with some goodies>G<
how about a piece of formica? i'd guess it would last a long time before delamitating.larry
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T
MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE
DUCT TAPE.
the sign supply places have a foam or wood core.... aluminum faced product... comes in many colors... it's used outside for signs...
my sheet metal place keeps colored alum sheets... (for race cars mostly).... some use to come 5ft wide and up to 12ft long...

Trespa comes to mind. It is like a 1/4" sheet of laminate. We used to use it for lining bathroom walls in institutional settings. I kept a bunch of leftovers. Stuck a scrap in a bucket of water, left it for a year, and it came out looking perfect.
You will probably have to order it through a wholesaler. Won't be cheap, but it is way cool.

you are overlooking the obvious
my first truck toolbox was a box i made out of 3/4" cdx-- I painted it black and glued Epdm rubber on the lid. It outlived my first 2 used trucks.

I would think you could use the sheet metal that heating guys use for making heating ducts. I got a peice..5 by 6 for $20 last year. It's galv. so it should last outside. I think they cut it from a 10' peice.
