Yes, I know. They are very expensive. But if you are buying rigid foam and cutting it and site-fabricating insulated headers using sawn lumber, you’re going to offset some of that expense with the labor and foam savings.
Anybody using these? TrusJoist lists them as available in many depths, I think from 5-1/2 up to 14, but we only have one depth available here.
I’ve not used them, but have seen them used on some nearby jobs, and they look good. Exact thickness, straight and true, less likely to shrink widthwise than sawn lumber, and there ain’t no cupping. Just what the doctor ordered.
