This is my first posting.
I am wondering if there are any groups, contingents, charitable NGO’s etc going over to the area affected by the recent tsunam to do some Fine Home Re-Building. I am in need of an adventure and I think I could be of some use. I would rather donate elbow grease than money. (got more grease than$$$)I am in the middle of a project now but should be ready by early Spring. I am interested in organizations that focus on rebuilding and construction as this is where my aptitude resides. Who should I hook up with?
Construction folk are traditionally and in my personal experience some of the most energetic, teamwork oriented, and self motivated people out there. Always among the first to roll up thier sleeves and get the dirty job done, they personify the atributes that it seems to me are crucial in the wake of disaster.
Good to know ya,
Pete

Pete,
Your posting made me curious if Habitat for Humanity goes overseas. They do and according to their site, Habitat.org, they plan to begin breaking ground as early as next week on 25,000 homes in Sri Lanka and India. Please post any pictures that you bring back. Thanks for the posting I didn't realize thet did volunteer vacations- there are also paid longer term positions available. Please post pictures if you go, thanks and good luck!
