I came across a guy using a pair of tubular steel folding sawhorses that a sacrificial 2X could be screwed to on top. He couldn’t remember where he’d got them, and any labels or markings were worn away. These were very strong, could really take a load, and were a snap setting up & storing. Someone out there has to have a similar set ! How about sharing your source? Don’t leave me hangin’ !!! Many thanks.

Trojan makes some nice ones out of angle iron that clamp to the 2x top rail...no screws necessary.
*You may want to look at the tempered aluminum horses at ClydeandDales.com. Not cheep but quick to set up. They held up to a load of 2x4's 4'x3'x14'with 30 18' 2x4's on top of that.
*Storehorse XT.Folding fiberglass, aluminum reinforced legs,1500# capacity per pair. Holds a 2x4 in the top, like a tray. Shelves in the middle so you don't have to throw your tools on the ground. No dents, bends or rust like the metal ones.Won't beat the crap out of your truck or its contents, either.
*Those Trojan horses are okay but watch your fingers! They've got some really good ((depending on your perspective!) pinch points that'll get you religion in a hurry. I'll stick with the heavy duty ZAG horses that fold flat, are light and have a little tray. Sam
*The pair that I have are made by Rugged Buddy. They are painted blue and the legs fold out and snap into place; you provide your own 2X material. They come in two different heights and are extremly strong, but expensive. I paid about $70 at one of those woodworking shows a few years ago. I've also seen them retailed at Juniors / Orco tools in Southern CA.I looked at the Trojans as well, but I feel the Rugged Buddy brand is stronger overall.
