Needed to cut some 2″ DWV copper and my tubing cutter only went to 1 1/2. Priced a new Rigid 2″ tubing cutter at the local plumbing supply: $65. Even if I had the time to drive to HD, I’d expect it to be better than $40. As it happened I’d seen a Rigid 2″ pipe cutter at a local used tool place and got it for $19.
My question is: is there any difference in the cutting wheel in that big hefty pipe cutter and the cutting wheel in the compact tubing cutter? The pipe cutter seemed to work fine on the 2″ DWV tube, but did compress the end of the tube slightly. It reamed out fine. Would a tubing cutter do a better job?

The pipe cutter will cut tubing but not verse visa. Plumbing supplies often have better prices on Ridgid stuff than HD.
*Thanks for the info and spell-check Mike.
