Has anyone used Tuff Hide? Is it that much better than regular primer? Does it really help that much after the final coat of paint goes on the wall? Any and all input would be appreciated.

IIRC, Tuff hide is a product to provide a smooth texture to drywall (level 5). In all practicality, it's thinned drywall mud.
My drywall sub sprayed Tuff-Hide on our current job and I am now a big fan of it. They did a very clean Level 4 finish first, and then sprayed the primer. No sanding after the spray. It takes a fairly powerful pump to move this stuff, not your average spray rig. Big bonus for me is that I got a batch of clean, heavy 5-gal buckets.
Thanks for the feedback. Now all I have to do is try to convince my painter to use this product.
Tuff hide is generaly done by the tapers, never heard of a painting contractor doing it.
Our drywall company uses it at times on condo projects. David gave you a good image of it. There is a learning curve when it comes to spraying this product, not an easy diy thing. Mike
Trust in God, but row away from the rocks.
might be regional, around here the painters do it, most of the drywallers have never heard of it and wouldn't have the pump to spray it with anyway.

That is interesting to me, as it is a USG product and sold at drywall supply shops. Mike

Seems hard to find it around here, I've got one supplier who used to stock it, but it looked to have sat for quite awhile. That's why I went to Builders Solution, much easier to get

Hamilton has a similar product also; http://www.hamiltonnw.com/NewProducts.asp Mike

They have a supplier in this area, I'll check it outHave you used Hamilton products?

Yes, but not the product posted. Their mud is a good quality. Sometimes we call it the Christian mud, each box has a fish and bible quote on the box. Mike
