I know there is a hardwood site but I can’t seem to find the one I was looking for.
Looking at putting in a walnut floor, handscraped along the lines of old worn country floors. The supplier mentioned using tung oil, which I have used on furniture but never thought about using on a floor. So any experience out there with this? I know it won’t give the protection like a poly or waterbased poly finish, and it won’t have a high gloss or gloss finish unless you wax it. It does offer some protection on water spills and such. The supplier also mentioned tung oil not yellowing like poly, but that doesn’t seem to be such an issue with some of the newer finishes.
Also anyone use hardwood from Carlise Wide Plank Floors?
Thanks Jeff

Tung oil is certainly easy to touch up if it scratches. Some of the oils come in different glosses. But,I have never tried it on a floor.
hello Jeffbeen a lot of talk on this board of floors, tung oil, Carlile, Waterloxtry search button and you might have enough material for a long rainy day / hope the search function is at its best for you john
Amber Shellac will make the walnut floor look better than tung oil. Really looks sharp. Probably hold up better on the floor as well.
