I didn’t put this under “Business” as TurboTax is supposedly a “personal” tax program. Some of you might actually pay taxes and some of those who do might use this program. I have been a dedicated TurboTax user (and purchaser) for over ten years, but I might be looking elsewhere in the near future. The problem is that Intuit (the maker of TurboTax) has added a “feature” to the program that requires that the computer running TurboTax be connected to the Internet for activation before the program can be run (this is to prevent unauthorized users from using the program without paying for it – you can give the disk to anyone but they can’t run the program without getting an activation, which will cost them if the program has been activated previously).
A number of users have posted on PC-Mag’s forums complaining of the “spy ware” that TurboTax installs (it uses a program known as “C-Dilla” to enforce its “one computer per authorization” scheme”) However, my problem is that I don’t have an Internet connection at home. I don’t even have a phone line. I can do e-mail from my work computer and browse the Internet, but I am not at liberty to load personal programs on my work machine – particularly not programs that load lots of additional bits to the operating system which reportedly can interfere with other programs and which cannot be completely removed even with the un-install program. I communicated with Intuit tech support (and got a surprisingly fast response) but the bottom line was that absolutely no use of the program without activation through the Internet. Since they give refunds only up to 90 days after purchase and I bought my program in early January, despite just loading it for the first time last week, I am basically out of luck on getting the program to run or buy a modem and cart my computer to friend’s house and plug into their phone line to get the program activated.
If you run this software, you might want to check the Intuit website as well as read the column in PC-Mag:

Sounds like delusions of grandeur to me. I'd dump it. If one of their competitors isn't already featuring hassle free licensing, I'm sure they will be by next year.
First of all it can be in business.
Anyone that does a sch C can use it.
You might want to get Tax Cut. However, you will have to get the updates (the same with TT).
I think that with TC there might be an option to down load the update separately or to order it on a disk. You can check it out at http://www.taxcut.com.
You might want to check out Tax Act http://www.taxact.com/
