All you kitchen cabinet builders and installers….a few years ago I saw a knife rack that mounted flush under the upper kitchen cabinets. It would hinge down about 40 degrees or so to remove the knoves and then could be raised and latched back into place. I looked like a great space saver but I cannot find one anywhere. Has anyone seen one lately, or is it time to start making one ??
Thanks in advance,

I found something like that at Outwater Hdw. 800-631-0342, part # AME-8607. If you're not in the trade, you may have trouble ordering through them.
Woodowrkers Hardware (http://www.wwhardware.com) sells something like that. P/N is A08607. They'll sell to anybody.
Lee Valley sell the fold-down brackets so that you can make knife, spice, or podium shelves to match you cabinets. The ready-made units (in plastic) are fairly ubiquitous.

We had a tall, thin, lower cabinet by the stove for cookie sheets, griddles, etc. The knife rack was fastened to the upper, inside of the cabinet door. Pretty simple to make-saw the grooves on one side of the knife board the length of the blades and the depth of the blades. Then saw grooves from the top an inch deep and lined up with the long grooves. Fasten it so the long grooves are against the cabinet door and the short grooves face outward. Attach to the door just low enough that the handles don't catch when opening/closing.
