An office- quality commercial sheet floor “linoleum” installed about 3 years ago. cemented down. Floor is slab on ground concrete and has several plumbing trenches in different rooms. In last year or so we are getting in one or two places a slight black mark showing the edge of the trench in places. You can not rub it off. Its not from the mechanical edge of the trench but my guess is that its moisture related. The old sheet flooring installed for 15 years did not do this? what failed? – Did the new cement absorb water and is now “marking’ the vinyl? How to prevent if we ever pull up the floor tile?

Are you sure it isn't the tile taking a slight 'break' over the edge and picking up dirt/wear? Doesn't take much. As opposed to the sheet goods which may have spanned this area better?

Thanks- both vinyls are sheet goods - like 12 ft wide so thats not it. i do not think its picking up dirt as i have tried several times to wipe it off/clean it
