My single car garage floor is asphalt and uneven (center higher then sides, and overall generally uneven). I would like to convert it to a workshop with a wood floor. What is the best way to get this floor flat? I was thinking of filling in the hollows with gravel/sand, laying down 4×8 in sheets of 1in foam and then 4×8 in sheets of 3/4 in TG plywood. Other option is to but down 2×2 sleeper and shim then level before laying down the TG plywood. Any suggestions?
thanks

Unless your current floor (slab) has a vapor barrier under it, I would think any wood you put on top of gravel and so forth might get damp from moisture coming up from beneath the slab. I would put plastic sheeting down, then put pressure treated sleepers on the slab and shim them to get them all level, insulate between them with whatever insulation you think is best and then put t&g 3/4 plywood on the sleepers.
