~~~~~CLIFFORD RENOVATIONS~Cold Spring Harbor,N.Y~~~
After talking about the feasabilty in charging for estimates I had another thought or problem. Its about unlicensed builders advertising in local Penny Savers or newspapers or even phone books. Its one thing when I see a car stop at my mailbox and put a lame flyer in it advertising their service….thats unavoidable and any homeowner that doesnt check that out has to have their heads examined. Seems to me that that should be a topic that building associations should be gathering about. To pass a law that all the publications should take some responsibility in insisting on licensed contractors. Making it a criterior to advertise. Proof of a license. Maybe a photo copy of the real thing or something along those lines. How much effort would that take? It certainly would cut down on customer fraud. It should be so with all professions. I haven’t a clue why this is so ignored by everyone. If it takes more effort on the part of the rags then charge us a bit extra. It would be worth it. Any comments? Any devils advocates?
Thanks,
Andy
Few people understand it. Nobody agrees what it is, how to learn about it, or who's responsible for it. It has never been more important
