I am planning to finish a basement with a full bath ( stool, whirlpool tub, shower and vanity ) and a small kitchen. The sewer line is 3′ above the basement slab so I will have to pump the sewage up. To complicate matters more, there is a sump pit right under where the home owners want the shower. The drain tile all runs into the pit and the sump pump runs frequently during wet weather.
I have never put in a up-flush system, so I would like some ideas on the best way to do it. Do I have to move the sump pit to a closet nearby or can I run it in to the sewage pit somehow? The kitchen is on the other side of the basement and it may be impossible to get the needed amount of fall to run the sink to the bathroom tank. What is the best way to pump up a kitchen sink?

Danny,
Do a little information gathering:
Where does the current sump pump pump to?
Once you know the answer you'll be able to determine whether you can combine the drainage sump and black and greywater sump. Then, once you've gathered any relevant code criteria concerning the placement of the combined, or second sump, the owners can be presented with layout and cost options. Implied in all this is the idea that you're going to collect all wastewater and sewage into a sump and from there pump it up into the main. You should be able to place the new, or modified/combined sump deep enough to get fall from the kitchen unless there are extenuating circumstances. Actually sizing a pump and vault/sump is the easy part.
