I am baby-proofing my apartment, and read that it is a good idea to limit double-hung windows to be openable to 6″. My local hardware store sells Ives Window Ventilating Locks, but I am unsure as to whether they would hold well in our hollow vinyl window parts where the locks would be installed. What do you think? Do you know of any clamping device that would do the same thing? Finally, it seems wierd to be putting holes in hollow vinyl window parts, even if the screws of the lock would hold. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.
