I know the topic is very geographically limited, but is there anyone from the Southern California area that knows if within the city of Los Angeles, it’s O.K. to use vinyl-coated sinkers for residential framing? The question continues to shear wall construction; are they allowed there?, or do you have to use common or box nails? By the way, the project will be done in the city of San Pedro, which is part of L.A. city.
Thanks!

The type of nails is not specified, only the 80% coverage. I use the short 16 ga senco types (actually 12 ga shorties), which is fine.
Building and Saftey at 221 S. Figueroa has a whole phamlet on the matter, which they will mail you.
