Question to all of you pro’s….. I’m considering a tile roof for my new home. Architect and Contractor are suggesting Vande Hey Raleigh Roof Tile — says it is the absolute best roof that I could buy… I never heard of them before… bit pricey but it is one of those deals that my wife really likes the look.
Comments… good stuff?, good outfit?, if I am going to lay out that many bananas, I’d like to hear your impressions!
TIA

I refuse to install anything on a roof that I can't say 5 times real fast with out trippin up. fuggetabotit.
Testing my understandin' I'm originally from the south myself... couldn't say anchovies, but I like them now.... you can't say it cause you haven't ever heard of them, or just don't like tile roofs?
I know it isn't as easy to pronouce as Jack Daniel's... but there are a few southern folks that could pronouce Labonte at one point in their lives either... (DON'T FLAME ME, I AM A NASCAR FAN!) LOL

naw, I just never had a chance to use it or see it. I lead a sheltered life. Jus' moved here from NC 3 mos. ago. And which labonte?..Still a fan of Kyle..he's consistent as least. LOL..
Go Stab yourself Ya Putz! Ya think I Parked here?
I am not a pro, but rather a homeowner/renovator giving the product a very close look.
Asked two roofers their opinion and they both praise it highly. Both stated that they wish they could install more of the stuff, very long lasting and very high curb appeal. My neighbor, an architect, heaped praise on the product having spec'd it for a few commercial jobs.
I saw a cost / benefit analysis that looked very favorably on their product over the life of a home. Since we never intend on moving it is a real plus for us. The only possible drawback for us is the tile might be too heavy for a renovation without structural additions.
One suggestion, look closely at an actual installation with your tile and color selection. We found our first two choices overwhelmed our house both in color and scale and have moved to a third and unexpected choice.
BTW, the company has been very accomodating tduring our inquiry, especially considering ours is a small project. With no regular installers near by to see samples, we requested and recieved two shipments of two tiles each, from the selection we made. If you have ever picked this stuff up, you know how expensive these samples were to ship.
With all that said, I would also recommend looking at Ludowici Roof Tile. Similar look although its clay, not concrete.
Thanks for your reply!
Bump
Bumping for any other opinions...
One last bump and then I'll give up... surely some more of you pros are familiar with this stuff.
I've seen it, was interested, and inquired about the product (this was 5+ years ago). Was told they would ship me samples and literature. After a month I had not received anything and I called again. Was told "sorry, we'll take care of that right away." Never received anything. Now, I didn't have a project in mind and told them as much. I was simply curious for future reference. I sometimes get more calls than I can handle, and I pick which ones to respond to. That very well may have been the case in this instance. I do like the looks of the product, but I don't have any info on price, longevity, etc. Good Luck.
Clients roof is Vande Hey tile, been there for 25 years and not a spec of trouble.Looks great! Only us stupid americanos use disposable roofing.
I got Lifetime concrete roof tile on my new house ,shop and summer kitchen . They are made in Senica ,Ill. not far from my place. I had some that broke across the middle of the tile after they were installed. The company took care of them right away. I now tap each tile before installing ,to hear if it rings or thuds. The thuds are duds and end up as fill.
