So, my potential clients said they’d like something “You know, that goes up from the vanity and over.”
This is what I’ve come up with so far. I’m also going to make an alternate version in which the cabinets sit above the back/side splashes, so the homeowner could leave stuff on top of the counter.
The counter is 50″, and I made the uppers 9×9. That ratio had me scratching my head for a while. I was considering a wider and shallower cabinet – say 11 wide by 6 deep – but decided I liked this profile better.
Words of wisdom?

Peace in.
I like it.
Things I might change:
Add a mid-rail on the upper doors to break up their height, or make them into two shorter doors.
Add a false drawer in front of the vanity bowl so you don't see the bowl when you open the door.
If your vanity is 34" or 36" high, four drawers on each side can work out better than three--they get pretty deep.
I like how the sides sit on the counter though; I don't think I'd make them float above the counter. The valence might look better if it wrapped all the way around the uppers, so it looks like it's the same width as the base cabinet.
For those column cabs on either side of the mirror I'd look around for plastic pans to fit in so the storage can become useful. Make them removeable for maximum useage. Without them those little shelves won't be good for much other than holding 1 or 2 items each.
The ratio of the hgt of the top door to the long doors doesn't seem right to me.
How about this? I also added handles on the doors instead of knobs.
Yeah, that looks pretty sweet.
You could also take the long doors out completely and just have small shelves for hand towels or other bathroom sundries. Just a thought.
That looks really similar to the one I'm about half done building for my bathroom. I like the cabinet doors in the new version. How deep is the countertop? I guess a lot of vanities are only 20", but I made mine a full 24" since I was going to be losing some counter space for the upper cabs.Post some pictures once you install it!-Rich
