Hi, anyone know if we should install vapour barrier behind denseshield on the 2 inside walls surrounding the tub we’re going to install? When we removed the very old greenboard in this 1970’s cottage bathroom, there was insulation in the first span on both inside walls, but no vapour barrier. (there was vapour barrier and insulation fully across the outside wall).
Thanks kindly!

My understanding is Dens is DW with plastic membranes on both sides. So no, otherwise you have 2 VBs.
You do know that you must caulk every nail with Dens.....
It would help, probably, if you read the manufacturer's instructions clearly posted in decal form on every sheet of Denshield.. ;)
Cliff notes version: 'Do not install a vapor barrier behind Denshield..If there is an existing vapor barrier (poly, felt, or paint), be sure to perforate it'.
Denshield needs air movement behind it so it can dry if (and when) it gathers moisture. Otherwise, it will likely fail. If this is a problem, use CBUs. They are a better product anyway.
