VB with insulation in basement ceiling
I am planning to finish a basement space. Currently I have paper faced FB in the floor joists of the first floor (the basement ceiling). Now that the basement space will be heated should the VB be removed/moved?
Thanks

If you have conditioned space on BOTH sides of the insulation the positioning of the VB is irrelevant and the insulation with no temperature differential or moisture differential across it is irrelevant so it's only functioning as a sound control and should be left in place VB and all.

It's a non issue. save your lungs, leave it in place ... the VB.
Great sound insulation ... you are lucky. Is the VB exposed to the basement or up against the floor above? If exposed to the basement, it is upside down! You might just give a quick check to see if there is any moisture damage ... not likely, but definately possible.
The vapor "retardant" is up-facing the upstairs. I thought I'd be ok with that but....safe than sorry.

So it was originally installed correctly, and it's irrelevant if both sides are heated.------------------
