Heres the deal- I own a 99 E-250 Van 6cyl, 265k miles.
This lady does not owe me a thing! Ive replaced ball joints, many break jobs, had the manifold cleaned but nothing major yet. No alternator, starters- wires here and there.
One of my guys takes it to pick up material (she’s used to me drivin her). He comes back and says the van exhaust took on some water when he went through a puddle (a big one). Says the vans making a noise out of the exhaust. Of course on the way back the puddle was smaller. I guess what I’m saying is- How come this stuff never happens when were driving are vehicles? He probubly hit the water so hard that it jarred something loose. My van sounds like a dragster when youget on it. I hope its not a big repair (anybody know what it is?).
I’m so P#ssed off about this,
Sorry for the rambling, I’m venting- LOU

Relax Lou---More than likely it is just the exhaust pipe collapsed from rust or pulled loose from somewhere under the vechicle or a cracked exhaust manifold or a catalytic converter bit the dust --I mean waterpuddle.. around here a couple of hundred for a exhaust system or 750. somolians for a cat. system.---bad enough but not unmanageable.
Ditto.

My exhaust on a 97 ranger broke loose at the cat. The flange was rusted out, and it's a part of the exhaust pipe. Well, I would have had to replace the entire exhaust from the cat back to fix it. So I get to thinking.... Went to Pep Boys auto parts and got a catalytic converter repair flange. They arent made for the exhaust side. So I had to buy some longer bolts to get it to hold to the catalytic converter and pull the exhaust pipe tight. Still fine. You arent likely to get as good as a factory lifespan from muffler shops. Plus it only cost about $7 to fix it.
Mine rusted off the cat. a month or so ago..my local guys welded a new pipe from cat to muffler. Large dia. tube and two bends, so it cost 50 bucks. Not bad IMO. Woulda been less but just the 3" pipe x 5' long was more $$$.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks
"Welcome to Poo-ville, can I have your socks?Seriously Folks, I need a home for 3 lovers of your life.
Its slid out of a union just after the cat. I slid it back in and its fine now. I just have to put a new u-bolt on it the other is rusted too bad to tighten.
Thanks guys, Lou
