I need to repair some veneer plaster ceilings, ( plumbing leak ), what USG or Goldbond product do I use for this application. My walls and ceilings are gyp. board with about an 1/8″ plaster coating. I will have some 1 – 2 sq. ft. holes to repair. I am comfortable doing drywall work but not this type of plaster. Thanks for any suggestions.

USG's Durabond
if you want plaster look for Diamond. I know why poster 1 said duraond though, if you haven't plastered, you might not like the end result. You don't know how much sand was in the mix, what kind of trowel finished it, and your chances of getting a joint that looks good . . . I think I'd fill with Durabond and do a skim of topping over it so I have something sandable to feather out with.

Yep, blueboard and Diamond is SOP around here.
Do I use reinforcing tape at the joints ? What type of sandable topping should I use ? Who makes the Diamond. Thanks.

usg makes the Diamond...it is a little easier to work with than Imperial.. both are by USG..

but the first response was correct... i'd patch it with Durabond 90, using a fiberglass mesh tape to reinforce the edges

Diamond sets fast, but can be extended with white vinegar
