Hey guys, I just looked at a job where I will be hanging about 80 sheets of blue board and I need to get a pretty average cost of veneer plaster per square foot. Client wants estimate asap. Thanks

Cost varies a lot by region.
Expensive here in NJ ... much less so in Boston area (for instance).

Maybe you know Jeff.
Why do you think that plastering is so regional? It seems to be more prevalent in the New England states. New York certainly has its share, New Mexico and Arizona I understand because of the influence of adobe,& pockets of California.
It's more expensive here because it's just not done that much and it's harder to find the labor. There are locals out of Philly and New York, but they mostly do larger commercial stuff.
Even in NE it's pretty spotty. There only 2-3 plaster guys here in southeast conn, yet right next door in Rhode Island (Mike Smith) it seems that that's all they do.

yes , but when i started in the '70's all we did was drywallthen a lot of Connecticut customers came in and wanted skim-coat plaster in the '80'snow it's hard to find drywall in residential workMike Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore
I think it tends to be regional jer because the finishing skills aren't all that portable and are harder to learn with a steeper learning curve.
Veneer plaster has something like 6 times the strength of gypbd. - I would love to use it more.

I know that the Boston area has/had a rather large Irish population. The Irish are some of the most highly skilled people I've ever worked with when it comes to plastering. It's a state sponsored trade over there.Plaster really is a much better wall, especially the 3 coat on mesh. It's a bust to demo though.

This is what National Estimator says.

I did this estimate from Nat. Est.
I figured 80pc x 32 SF = 2560 SF
2560 SF /9 for SY = 284 SY
Labor cost was set at $40/ hr.
They said labor cost should be about $36 for our area.
Hope this helps.
PS Keep in mind I don't know squat about plastering. Just cutting and pasting.
