Today I looked at a house where they had plastered over the old dated ceramic tile on the walls in the bathroom.
It had a venetian plaster look and it looked really nice.
How would you do this? First primer the tile? Then trowel on light coats of mud or some type of plaster mixture?
Has anyone done this before? It looked great and would appear to be an excellent way to do something with old dated ceramic without having to tear it all out and start over.

step one would be to clean the tile cleaner than clean...
step two would be to scratch the snot out of the tile...
were the grout lines visible????

I researched it for a remodel I was doing. Very labor intensive. Their is a company in San Antonio that sells the product. TEIFS is the name, check the website. You start with a very smooth sheetrock wall, then paint on the first color. let it dry, then apply the second color with a metal trowel in small areas, putting on small blobs of misture and spreading it smiooth. kinda like putting joint compound over screw heads in sheetrock. just keep working at random.

the Venetian is cake and pie....
preping the tile is the chore....
the Venetian by Velspar is a one step process...
very easy to do...

Thanks for the info in TEIFS !
Did you look at the site? They also have a retail store in north SA, but that's pro=bably too far for you to drive. I went to the factory one day and got a private lesson from the guys in the lab. So now I am 'selling" their oproduct whenever someone asks."Put your creed in your deed." Emerson
