Hi Guys,
Got a question. We are to build a one story addition with a 2/12 pich extending 12′ from existing home two story home the additions roof will be a hip. We are in northern Illinois. 4 seasons sun room with southern exposure. What is the best way to insulate the cieling and vent the attic space. The homeowner prefers not to use roof vents because of the appearance. A clean roof would be nicer look.

By not insulating the attic space but by insulating the rafters. You need a reason to ventilate. Ventilation is not always a prerequisite to insulation or vise versa.
