Does anyone out there have ideas for tastefully venting the wall line-i.e. blocking between mono trusses w/ 2×10 exposed tails on a new bungalow style home? Midget round vents are not an option- Ground sight level is all upward and makes the street appeal very important… somewhere in the Pacific Norwest someone has done something out the mainstream—-any suggestions?

Hide the vents with some dentils?
Make the blocking come out 1/2" short on the top?
thanks dan- current plans include gable end vents on 2nd story 5/12 p. first story -4/12 p. essentially allows flr 2 to float.. 2x t&g decking exposed for 20" above 2x10 tails to wall line ----then the visual problem begins...simply holding things down and creating a screened hell hole for every living creature in Colorado is a tuff choice..Tucking under a dentil in some sweet way could work- please expound-ANY input would be appreciated- woody
for a bungalow with exposed rafters i woul use a 1x8 strip of blocking to meet the top of the siding at the bottom of the rafters, a strip of core-vent (black if you are putting a stain or sealer on the exposed members, white if you silly enough to paint it) faced with a 1x4 to meet the exposed roof decking. this provides clean simple lines in keeping with the arcitacture of the structure, using dental detail for venting exposed rafters looks to busy and somewhat out of character unless you have a zero overhang application finished with a crown detail, or a finished soffit for the dental work finish to.
hope this makes sense. -greg
