I am building a large dormer style valley roof. The upper jack rafters do not extend to an eave. The Pine T& G ceiling will be attached to the bottom of the 2x 10 rafters. I was planning on standard insulation and a ridge vent at the top. Any sugestions on how to let cool air in at the bottom or alternative insulation and venting techniquies?

Sprayed in foam is perfect for T&G under rafters since it dramatically cuts down on the hastle factor of getting a good vapor barrier. Many western style homes with T&G have terrible problems with air leakage. The foam also totally eliminates the need for venting.
