A former student who is majoring in engineering emailed me this. He didn’t build it, he was just passing it on. I would love to see the design and hardware behind it!

A table like that needs a special bench:

The firewall here won't let me access that page. "Adult Content", makes me wonder just what type of bench that is! :)

Sorry about that, Larry. While that site sometimes has mildly racy videos, it's not a #### site by any means - and there's nothing in the link I posted that you couldn't show in church!
The bench in question looks like it is made of countless layers of cardboard; you can open, close, and twist the thing into nearly any shape like a slinky.

Not a problem, I checked it out at home and that is one cool bench!

love the table alot of thought went into that design
One of my customers has a rectangular table by the same company. When you pull the 2 sides apart the leaves come up out of the center column to extend the table. The mechanics of it are just amazing. I think she told me it was Danish.
The hardware.

I can't imagine what that would cost. Even the manual one would probably be too rich for me....
