Penthouse condo- dormers and skylights, but no real ‘view’. Considering installing a good quality exterior rated color CCTV camers on the roof (from where there is a spectacular view), and connecting it to one of the inputs of the large plasma TV over the fireplace.
Any of you ever seen this done?
Thoughts?
Thanks

I know similar things have been done. In one case, to meet requirements for having windows, a hospital installed special panels with lights behind that were color-cued by sensors on the roof -- panels would be redddish in the morning and evening, brighter white during the day, darker if it was cloudy. This gives patients a sense of having access to a window and really helps with SAD-like effects that occur during long hospitalizations.
What you miss with the video screen, of course, is any sense of perspective or binocular vision -- the image doesn't have any "depth" and doesn't change as you move around the room.
(On a separate note, plasma screen over fireplace may not be wise, and as a "window" is certainly not realistic.)

Try telling that to the volume builders who put in direct-vent "fireplaces"."Put your creed in your deed." Emerson
"When asked if you can do something, tell'em "Why certainly I can", then get busy and find a way to do it." T. Roosevelt
