Just finished installing Cedar Impressions vinyl siding. Customer wants to change from white (which they wanted) corner boards to siding color. Anyone know of a reasonable way to tackle this short of removing the siding?

I don't envy you this task. Few things are more frustrating and difficult.
Peel the siding and start over. In the long run, you'll be glad you did.

Pretty much what I arrived at.
I thought sure, cut the corner off and pry out the nails from the nailing flange, but how the heck to do you re-attach the new corner?

this can get complicated. sometomes by unlocking vinyl pannels. pull the corner nails, and any nails from panels within 12". slide one side in. then the other. renail. there is a way to cut the corner post and the new post . then snapping corner over the old. lot more difficult than the other.

then you have to do it the hard way,
are the corners like normal vinal siding corners?
regular vinyl corners, nail flange behind siding
don't forget to get change order signed with t&m to be charged. this is the most important part.

second method: cut existing corner off, leaving it to look like j channel
cut new corner at thesecond bend from nailing flange.
take new corner, snap it over the remains of existing corner
install screw at the bottom to hold new corner and keep it from sliding down
take your time. it works!!!
This is the way I was taught to repair corners by an old sider. 40 yrs in the business
I like it...
I woulda took it all apart...
put it all back together...

pain the heads of the screws with nail polish. You can get real close to the color at kmart etc

Used this method this AM. Works pretty well, just have to go slow so that you don't over cut the vinyl.
good for you
great idea! - perhaps a rivet instead of a screw would be more discrete. Thanks for the tip, I like having solutions to problems in my arsenal"it aint the work I mind,

rivet works, butis very hard to do, thats why small screw works. I've made a lot of money over the years fixing these corners that have been damaged by cars. baseball bats etc..
My method is exactly the same as yours, I use a hook blade for roofing to cut the corner and leave the flange.
Squeeze some adhesive silicone into the new corner and lock it into place.
I use rivets, but that doesn't make it any better than your method. Woods favorite carpenter
