Hi,
I’m installing vinyl siding with vinyl corners & PVC trim around windows and doors. The Vinyl Institute & Certianteed Install Guide say to use 10 inch flashing on both sides of outside & inside corners. I have never seen this done on the installs around my area. Most people just put up WB and put on the siding. I would like to know if anyone uses wide flashings and does aluminum or flashing membrane work better? What is a good way to fill PVC trim screw or nail holes?

Vinyl
Detailing vinyl might make it a viable siding.
As a remodeler I can tell you numerous ways how not to do it. And the biggest recommendation would be not to use what you've seen being done as gospel.
In the past year I've had the displeasure of repairing the outside corners on 3 homes (2 from the late 90's) where water intrusion took out the sheathing and had started in on the frame. The siding sheds the water, the J chanel directed it.
Even with a wide band of flashing membrane, make sure water has a way out at the bottom.
I like the membrane myself and have done it that way for years. Vinyl siding is going to leak, you just need to channel the water out the bottom. I wrap exterior door jambs with it, wrap sub-fascia at the corners and at joints, love the stuff.
Yes, the home will be wrapped with Tyvek first, but the two installation methods I sighted still said to add wide flashing. Like I said most homes around here just put up the Tyvek and that's it. Flashing sounds good but I jsut have never seen that done.
I called CertainTeed and they said use additional flashing other than house wrap. I will look at Vinyl Institute recommendations again but I think it said extra flashing over house wrap also. I just never see this done. Maybe an extra layer of house wrap in those areas.

It is best to follow the recommendation:
If this is your house you can pretty much do what you want. Provided the building Inpsector will buy off on it. But, most of them are aware of the need to seal the membrane under vinyl, and will fail you for not following the manufacturers instructions.
And, are you willing to disclose to future potential buyers tht you didn't install the siding per the manufacturers recommendation, and there is no warranty? If you don't disclose it you could get sued, and I doubt there would be a statutory limit on how long they have to initiate the suit.
