Our Church and Ministry needs a walk-in cooler. They have the cooling equipment and space within a building.
I am thinking we could build one with SIPs panels or the like and get more space for our money, instead of buying a cooler kit.
Ideas?

By considering things like energy-efficient mechanicals, window orientation, and renewable energy sources, homes can be evaluated to meet the energy codes. Here's what the IRC has to say.

frame and sheath the area (light duty is good enough, except for the door) and spray foam it -
ag coolers are done this way - very tight and efficient - I don't know if code is an issue in your case tho -
Man I just tossed out enough panels to build a 40 x 60 ft cooler... i do still have the door units if you think you'll buld one.. u are welcome to it...
as for building one... I'd first watch local auctions... they never go for much... check with big local landlords.. most people leave em behind when they leave... most would be happy to donate em... most are put together with cam locks... some rust buster and an allen wrench is about all u need and a razer to cut the caulk if someone sealed em up... they really are nothing but sips panels except with alum skin... my bet is you can find one for free... sounds weird but the big ones bring less than the small ones used... but u can use the panels u need the corners and door are the big deal... after than not hard to cut em down if needed... when all the cam locks were bad I'd band em with the same banding they use on pallets & lumber and caulk the joints... first one i ever did when i was 17 is still in use...
good luck and if u need the door & frame and are come'n back to see the clan u are welcome to it

Thanks Homeboy.
If I remember (as well as you) you are in Memphis. Ah, ha. Maybe a good chance to see the folks and the Tigers B-ball team (folks have season tickets).
I'll check with the Church / Ministry staff.
Going to Vegas this weekend. See Las Vegas Stones post.
