Just timbered out my Walnut. They said my 10K bf (in logs) would be on a boat to China within 2 weeks. They said that Missouri Walnut Company, a Chinese company, is targeting 10-12 Million feet this season. Said they purchased 8M last season. Average price I got was 1.47/ bd ft. That price included a few $6 / bf logs and a lot of 50 cent / bf logs. 121 logs total. Wish they could all have been peelers!
What is China doing with this Walnut? They are making furniture from it and shipping it back to the USA!

Dont bet on it.
I read an Australian article a year or so ago....The Chinese were logging/buying huge areas of rainforest in Papua New Guinea and using all kinds of beautiful hardwoods for boxing concrete.
while so many are trying to preserve rainforest timbers....they use and burn for crap

Those peelers will likely make a re-appearance in a few months at yer handy big-box store as plywood with a 1/128" veneer on the outside. If you buy any of it, don't even think of sanding it.

Just a guess: Any knock together MDF veneered product. See Ikea.
