That might be an issue. You'll need to do a great job air sealing, because it's likely the back side of your sheathing is going to be well below the dew point for most of the winter. Any chance you can cut and cobble some EPS against the sheathing before insulating? Also, most of the time, double stud walls are insulated with blown cellulose.
Thought about doing that and spray foaming the cracks between foam sheeting and stud.was thinking about doing 1in .also next year or so when i reside the house i plan add 1in to exterior
@Andy_Engel is your concern that the wall would be a retrofit which would not likely allow for the air-sealing measures that Dan Kolbert described in his article? While Dan acknowledges the theoretical potential for damp sheathing, he seems to feel it's not a big risk. I would assume the NE, IA climate isn't too far from Portland, ME.

If Andy is as lucky as me, it hasn’t arrived yet.
I am every bit that lucky. And I usually get an advance copy!
I see the online version is available. Maybe the mag is in the mail.
As an aside, do we have to wipe all the pages?
Probably not. Just soap and water.
With the sunshine here in Seattle (hey, it happens but we don't tell anyone) everyone is sneezing so I keep a package of wipes for my screen. That ought to do it!
Why do you want a double stud wall? For insulation? If that's the case you'll have to live to be 100 to get your money back. At worst your walls lose 20% of your heat. You'd be far better served to pull the siding or drywall and spray foam.
Agree, this is a very large commitment and sum of $ to bump up r value. I would imagine many rooms are effected by adding the double wall. You’re basically remodeling the whole entire home by doing this, but maybe your project is a total gut job. If better r value is a must, you might save $ installing exterior insulation using rockwool. I’m thinking all of the double wall work to interior will require remodels to kitchen, baths and totally effects layouts of bedrooms etc.
