I’m putting the final touches on my Sukkah for our temple. Right now I’m applying a termite fighting wood preservative, the Jasco Termin8 Clear – which WAS an oil based copper napthalate product.
Apparently, my local supplier no longer carries the oil based version of it anymore, I found this out when i used up my personal stash and went to buy more.
What they do have is a new version, 15% zinc in a water base for clear, and 15% copper napthalate water based in their brown version.
Any experiences with how well these work? They still say that they are water repelent… even though they are water based. Hmmmm.
I’d like to stay with the clear, as I’m applying it to new redwood.

I use WoodLife clear wood treatment on raw wood before painting it (exterior). Spray it on, brush it out. When it dries, water will bead up on it. But it's paintable - no wax or silicone.

I googled that. Thanks

Know what it has in it? Might be the answer to my problems. Does it seal wood permanently?

I'm not sure how permanantly. I have had it (only) on sanded raw old clapboards for a year, and water would still bead up on the surface when i went to prime the next year; very little graying.

Yes! that's the tough part. I bought to 5-gal pails (special order in Atlanta) a while ago, and am nearly out . . .
