Hello everyone,
This is the first time I’ve used this so please forgive any mistakes. Anyway I have an older basement which is getting water in through one wall in one part of the room. I have regraded the outside area and the leaking persists. I was wondering if it made sense to cut a foot long trent ten feet or so to either side of the leak and install a french drain just in that area connected to a sump pump.
Thanks for any input

Since the water is coming from the outside I'd continue to address the problem there.
Only if I had a spring in the basement would I take corrective measures inside the buildings footprint.
If you had a boat that leaked would you feel comfortable just getting a bigger bilge pump? or would you fix the leak?
It would help to install an intercepotor trench on the outside of the house, and instead of going to as sump, run the pip around to the other side of the house where ot can drain by gravity.
I'm sorry, I thought you wanted it done the right way.
