My wife and I are building a custom 3200 sf home in Asheville, NC. We are in the framing stage and thus far, it has taken ten weeks and we just started on the second floor a week ago. A number of factors have really slowed us down…only three men framing for the first nine weeks (due to a shortness of framers we have been told); and frequent, sporadic rain showers which have really soaked the Advantek 50 year warranted flooring throughout the first floor. The framers drilled holes to release the water that is frequently trapped on the surface. The Advantec has turned almost black and we are very concerned about the structural condition of this product, plus, we wonder if it could harbor molds, because my wife is allergic to some molds.
Although the Advantek is both glued and nailed, the butt joints have raised a bit, and I wonder if this will effect the laying of the hardwood floors when and if it ever completely drys off. We are probably still two weeks away from getting a roof over the entire structure.
My contractor says not to worry, that everything will be fine. He says that they sand the Advantek flooring before nailing down the hardwood floors.
Regardless, I am worried. Should I be?
Thank you for any light you can shed on my concerns.

i don't think this will help you on the first floor, but i'd go down to sherwin williams and buy about 10-15 gals of mis mixed paint, they sell it for 10.00 for 5 gals. mix them all together, and get a roller and start painting that 2nd floor as soon as it is decked. if you have enough for 2nd &3rd coat great! it really helps when you have rain at letting you sweep off the water before it soaks in. i use advantech and have never really had a problem with it delamanating from water, but never had one open for 2-3 months getting wet. i'm not sure what your options are except to get the roof on and let it start drying out. it would actually be a advantage if things didn't move to fast after dry in. i'd hate to lay a floor over that for 6-8 weeks for sure. if electric is avail. i'd get some fans blowing and maybe a dehumidifer after it's closed in. if it makes you feel any better i think you have the best underlayment around, if it was just osb you'd probably be falling through by now!!! i did have a friend have this problem with edge's swelling on his house and he sanded them and layed a 1/2 osb over the entire thing. i thought he was nuts because the house was carpeted from end to end. larry
Thanks Larry,
Guess what...it's raining yet again today in Asheville!
Woe is me!!!

go to advantek's website and ask for tech help you need to remediate the mold thing before covering it up ask them if ok to wash w a bleach/ water dilute to kill the bad stuff off allowed to stay, it will come back to haunt you, environmental issues
used advantek before, like it, but as with osb it will get the sags between floor joists and edge swelling if exposed to a lot of rain used to coat deck surfaces w clear sealer like thompsons to ward off excessive rain problems big help w pine plywood which tends to delam from water contact, unlike fir ply which is hardier used a big floor squeegee like type used in garages, worked better than rollers, mops
