Trying to save some detective work seeing if anyone else experienced this before and knows how to fix it. …..
Rainstorm occuring now. I hear this water splattering all over my deck. I look out and see that water is waterfalling from my gutters. It appears to be “overflowing” so to speak on the back soffit edge of the gutter and running on the backside of the gutter, then under the gutter to the front bottom edge of the gutter and then waterfalling down. Now my gutters are not clogged, clean as a whistle. They never did this before.
Further examination shows the water seems to be clinging tight to the drip edge and the water seems to be wrapping around under the drip edge where it contacts the gutter instead of spilling from the roof into the gutter. Honest, it’s the truth. Bizarre or am I seeing things? It’s almost as if I have no gutter, that’s how much it’s waterfalling.

My first thought was that the i/s edge of the gutter is lower than the o/s. Then that you've quite a low pitch to the roof. Then that there's so much water in the gutter it only appears to be running back up.
Verdict: confused as you!
When you say 'drip edge' do you mean the edge of the roofing material projecting over the gutter, or do you have some non-return drip cap tucked under the shingles? If it's an ongoing concern, try the N-R drip.
All the best...
To those who know - this may be obvious. To those who don't - I hope I've helped.
your gutters might be absolutely clean
but the first thing I would check is for a clog in a downspout elbow.
Next thing is to check if the bottom edge of the shingles extend 1/2"
3/4" BEYOND the drip----If they have been kept flush with the edge of the drip you can often get this problem. this can be a bit difficult to track down on an older home with a banana or series of bananas in the bottom edge of the roof. the roofing might be flush HERE---but extend well past the drip edge THERE----making the "overflow" appear frustratingly random.
