I have to temporarily close off two 12′ x 14′ fiberglass overhead doors during the winter months. These doors are installed in an unused area of a commercial metal building so my customer wants to insulate and seal them off in order to stop air infiltration and cold transfer. I’ve thought about framing in the openings, insulating, sheathing and Tyvek wrapping but that would be way too tedious to take down in the spring when the doors need to be opened for ventilation. Rigid insulation and spray foam was another thought but I see that as a major mess waiting to happen.
Like always my customer wants the job done as cheaply as possible but with acceptable results. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Cheapest (in the long run)and best solution would be to replace with some good insulated overhead doors. To temp block the doors off is going to cost money for mat and labor. Removing in spring more cost for labor, storage and/or disposal of materials. Repeat as required for ever. Replace door once, done for years to come.
