A friend of mine wants to build a barn this summer. He wants to side it in antique weathered boards so the new barn doesn’t look out of place on his property. His farmhouse dates to 1806 and his remaining (and well-maintained) old barn still has its original unpainted spruce siding.
Location is Elizabethtown, NY, the county seat of Essex county, not far from Lake Champlain, 125 miles up from Albany.
Any leads on sources for weathered barnboard siding will be appreciated.
If you have bought or sold any recently, we would like some information on pricing.

I've been looking at barn sites for about a year. I can probably give you half a dozen. Lets start here and I'll find more:

I gets loads of help here at breaktime, nice to give back.

Stinger - On my Virginia property there's a 2 story house that's old wood. I would guess probably 1840-50. I'm thinking of demolishing it and selling the boards. let me know what you find on the pricing?

In E-town all he should have to do is ask around a little and find someone who's willing to sell their barn. Or cruise out into the country and just start knocking on doors.
happy?
Howz a guy from MN know we all call it E-town?
I'm from J-town.
If ignorance is bliss why aren't more people

One more and its just an idea .
Olympic makes a weathering stain . Thats the color . Or they did .
Pressure wash Western Red Cedar? What would a light sand blast do to old clab boards on those old double walled houses ? I dunno.
One other thing ;
Theres a place called Silver Dollar City thats a theme park that sits in Branson Mo. Its a big place . They built a whole town new and it looks old . I think its a band saw mills work but not sure . Different colors of weathering stain . I always wanted to play with it but never had an opportunity or really purpose.

You beat me to it . <G>
I figgure a man could drive all day Sunday and have more prospects than he would want to work on.
I dont know how many times Ive been asked to tear one down but thats been quite a while back. Reminds me of the time I walked into a beer joint and asked for some beer cans . He laffed and walked me out back and lordy lordy . Of course this was 35 years ago. I guess now is now with a barn too.

I have a cousin with a large stack of it in his garage. But I think he wants $2 a square foor for it. And shipping from Illinois would be cost prohibitive.
Honestly - Once the boards are painted I don't think you'll be able to tell if they're old or not. He might be able to get some new stuff from a saw mill that's a lot less expensive.
O.K., I just saw you mentioned un-painted siding. That's not done around here. Barns around here are 95% painted red, with a few painted white. None are left unpainted, unless they're left to rot.
He said he didn't care what I did, as long as it was in a different community.
