I cannot get the hook on my Werner rope to go around the rung anymore. I called Werner this morning and asked them – any chance my rope has shrunk? Small pause – yes.
Man at werner says I should try and strech the rope. Anybody else solve this problem? What are my chances of ripping the pulley off the upper rung?

I have an old ladder that did not have a rope on it.
Grabbed a piece of ski rope that was handy. It was a little too small and the rope will jump the pully and jams against the pulley yoke.
Is that what you are talking about?
Streching the rope won't help.
This is the original rope. This ladder has led an easy life. It spent the great majority of its life resting on brackets in the garage. I unhooked the rope some years ago and was just using the bottom 12'. Now I go to rehook the rope. They got some pieces aluminum pressed on this rope. One piece forms a loop in the rope. The other piece has a U-channel in it. You are supposed to be able to wrap the rope around the bottom wrung and catch it in the U-channel.
Since the rope shrank, it is too short to go around the wrung. I thought I had missed some trick. But Werner confirmed, the rope shrinks.
I suppose it lasted as long as the warranty. Somewhere there's a Werner guy saying it looks good from my house. (_*_)
