Shown here is a variation on the Mike Smith method for blanking off the heel space of a rafter or truss bay, when the insulation method will require venting the attic space.
I show one of the commonly available staple-up chute products that is shot to the bottomside of the deck bay between framing, and the piece that is used to do the vertical blank-off is below it.
The piece is pattern-cut at its top to fit OK with the chute, and edge-folds are done to get tabs that are then stapled to the framing at the sides, and to the wall plate at the bottom.
In one of Mike’s excellent photo essays on building, he shows how spray foam, applied using the thin tube tip that comes with the packaged cans, is used to seal across that top joint between this vertical baffle and the chute.
I am wondering what kinds of materials might be easy to work with, and adequate for the job, for the tabbed baffle part.
What might you suggest, beyond scrap OSB? I would like something that cuts readily with a utility knife, and that can be scored in order to make the tabs.

Ya know that vinyl stuff that is used for fascia? I think you can get it coils.

Old corrugated plastic political signs? (That's what I used, though not exactly the same way.)
I've used fanfold foam sheeting for stuff like that.

Everything fits, until you put glue on it.
