Some people have no clue on the value of things. The time to dismantle this thing out weighs any material cost to say nothing of their asking price.
They should it on ebay while they are at it.

LOL. I'd offer him a buck....reluctantly.
Scott.
If I give you a dollar can I help paint the fence?
I don't know... I guess for $1000, I might consider taking the deck down, and carting it away. I might be able to clear a few hundred after a couple of days work. Oh, wait... my bad, nevermind.
I just love these Craiglist "deals".
What if it was $100? Worth it?
Nope

"What if it was $100? Worth it?"Yeah, maybe. Just barely possible, if you can use it, and if you have the room to store it until you re-use some percentage of the parts. 99.9% of potential buyers would have to modify the finished product. So it comes down to, "Can you design around the measurements of these weathered materials for some future project and make it worth it?", or, more likely, "Would you be saving any money if you bought and dismantled this deck to use as fire-blocking?Myself, I'll pass. But I'm all for responsible re-use of materials, so go for it!AitchKay
I rebuilt the deck at my ex and sons house. They had no money, but the old deck was falling apart because it was just built completely wrong, and there were some weathered, rotted and split areas. It turned out OK, but was a lot of work, and not really worth it, but they have a pretty fair deck now and I taught the boys a little bit. It is somewhat large 16x16 so they got a few days work out of it. I ended up donating a pretty fair amount of lumber and hardware to make it happen.
Well, I know what you mean, but -
I bought a disassembled Trex deck from a pro deck builder off Craigslist for a few hundred, and made that neat-o curved footbridge I posted here a year ago, and made a few $K.
Forrest - just sayin'
Forrest,
Yours was worthwhile because it was Trex and it was bigger than 8x10.John
