Entering week 5 (?) of new job…
My new employer is a great guy!
I put “boss” in quotes because he isn’t “bossy” at all..
He is 28 and is leading and learning and I feel more like a partner than an employee.
He respects me for my abilities, experience and my opinions.
He is always very upfront with me about everything from my mistakes to how much work he has to his plans for his/our future in this bizz.
I get the impression that he would rather go out of business than have to lie to me or a client or anyone else.
he would rather say what he feels up front than let something eat at him, and I hope this will rub off on me, ’cause I tend to let things fester…
(probably why I love this place soo much!!)
yest. we were talking about x-mas and which days to take off, He asked me what I/my employers had done in the past.
I told him that for the past 8-10 years I had been given the week between x-mas and N.year off without pay but usually used any vaca/pers. time left over that week.
he asked if I wanted to do that this year. I said I would talk to DW to see if we could afford it.
He said “you can, I’ll pay you for it”!!!
Looks like I got an early X-mas present!!!
In more ways than one!!!
What the heck am I gonna complain here about now????
well I can probably dig up enuff stuff about former “bosses” to write a bad novel…
Merry Holidays every one!!!
Spiked eggnog on me!!

Kinda like me and my neighbors...some day we're gonna find out if the problem is always them, or really you (me). <G>
Glad it's working! Merry Christmas!
I'm glad it seems to be working out for you Tony. Nothing more stressful than a crappy working environment with an uncertain future. Good on ya for making the move. You deserve it man.
I can see you telling the reporters, "but he seemed like such a nice guy." As the police put your boss into the back of the squad.
Just kiddin... congrats on your new boss. Makes a world of difference. Bet its a little easier to crawl out of bed in the morning.

When I saw the thread title, I thought it might be you.
Glad to hear things are working out for ya.
P.S.- if you don't tell your wife about getting paid for Christmas break, that leaves you more tool money
not that I would ever suggest deceiving someone's spouse
Or, he could treat the money as regular pay, and disappear for the week, pretending to be at work. Wonder what he could do for 40 hour?!
But he'd still have to come home every night to keep the ruse going.
Kinda puts the trip to Tijuana on the kibosh.
wait ...
5 weeks at a "new" job?
and I wasn't consulted before the big switch!
I just started working/subing for a new(to me) kitchen and bath dealer ... got a call to see how next week looked for me as far as fitting in one of their jobs ... nothing but compliments and praise based upon one of the last jobs I wrapped up for them.
Here's to hoping that lasts for the both of us, huh.
Also just told Cath I was taking that same week off .... probably .... 'though mine will be without pay.

Good for you!
I hope your message gets through to lots of construction "bosses" out there. Some bosses don't seem to notice it as they shoot themselves in the foot.
Let's all raise a glass to your boss! Salud!
